About us
A salsa rivalry that became a business
Tex-Mex C Company is a small-batch Tex-Mex food producer and wholesale distributor in Bountiful, Utah. This is how we got here — and how we still decide what is good enough to ship.
Where it started
Like most companies in this valley, ours started at a kitchen table. Family dinners always came with two or three competing bowls of salsa, and the arguments over which one deserved to stay on the table got louder every year. Barry Gibbons, our Managing Member, decided the only honest way to settle it was to write the recipes down, cook them side by side, and let the whole family vote. The notebook from those cook-offs is still the foundation of every product we make.
What began as a family hobby turned into something more when friends, then neighbors, then a local deli started asking for jars of their own. Barry took the leap, built out a proper commercial kitchen in Bountiful, and Tex-Mex C Company went from a notebook to a wholesale operation supplying stores and restaurants along the Wasatch Front.
Kitchen standards
We have never been interested in being the biggest Tex-Mex producer in Utah — only one of the most careful. Every product we make still passes the same test it passed on day one: a small batch, cooked in our own kitchen, tasted by the people who made it, and adjusted until it is something we would proudly serve our own families. If a batch misses the mark, it does not leave the building. No exceptions, no shortcuts.
- Whole ingredients, cooked in-house
- Small, traceable batches from start to finish
- Every batch tasted before it ships
- Recipes developed and tested in our own kitchen
"If we would not put it on our own table, it does not get our label."
Barry Gibbons, Managing Member
Rooted in Bountiful
We chose Bountiful because it is home, and staying close to our customers is part of how we keep quality honest. When a store manager in the Salt Lake City metro has a question, they can reach a person who actually stood over the kettle that morning. That closeness — to our neighbors, our partners, and our own standards — is the whole idea behind this company.
